16 not 21

It just hit me last night that queens take 16 not 21 days to develop. I was initially thinking that this Saturday or Sunday would be the day for the new queen to emerge but it is most likely today if not yesterday. This weekend’s inspection is going to be an adventure.

  1. Be careful not to disturb the new queen too much. I’ve been told by the older beekeepers not to inspect my hive for a couple of weeks – I’ve got a queen due to hatch out soon too. Exciting!

  2. Matt inspected the ground around the hive this morning. No dead queens yet.
