I’m part of a beekeeping group that meets the third Monday of every month at the Austin Old Quarry Library to foster a community as well as provide lectures and Q&A sessions on a variety of beekeeping topics. We try to have both beginning and advanced lectures so that beekeepers of all levels can learn something new. Whether you are in central Austin or somewhere on the outer edge of Travis County, we’d love for you to swing by and introduce yourself.
Here is the schedule for the next few months of 2015:
May 11th, 2015: Finding a Queen and Requeening
June 15th, 2015: TBD
July 20th, 2015: Meridian Hive Meadery
August 17th, 2015: TBD
September 21st, 2015: TBD
Hi I’m new to Austin and I’m wondering if you can tell me if there are any local bee equipment/ package/ queen providers?
For queens and bees, R Weaver and B Weaver are really the main Texas providers of bees. There are some local equipment providers, but most folks order online.
We are looking for someone in Austin that we could hire to help us raise 8 hives this spring. The bees have been ordered and will be here in early April. Ideally we would like someone professional and reputable that we could hire to tend to the bees and educate our family about them. I would appreciate any leads for people that could be interested.
Thank you,
George
Sorry I missed your comment George. I’d recommend joining the Austin Area Beekeeper Association and starting a thread on our discussion board to see who might be interested.
What is the date of the next meeting and what will the topic bee? 🙂 I am 13 and am interested in starting to raise bees. My grandparents use to have bees and I want to add them to my list of 4-H projects. I am looking for help in starting, keeping and sharing with others what I learn.
Hey Shannon, Our next meeting is actually this Monday March 16th (http://www.meetup.com/Austin-Urban-Beekeeping/events/219819418/).
What about your May meeting. When and what time is that?
I’ve updated the schedule for the next few months.
